Meet Your Coach
Pickleball is more than just a game to me; it's a passion deeply rooted in my family history and heritage.
I was born in Washington state, the birthplace of pickleball, and was introduced to the sport by my mother. Originally a Division I collegiate tennis player, she went on to become a multi-time pickleball national champion in both singles and doubles. With over 30 years of coaching experience in tennis and pickleball, she has helped certify thousands of new instructors around the world.
Her influence, coupled with my own competitive drive, fueled my success, leading me to achieve several junior national titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. I mainly focus on building players now, but have maintained a solid 5.0 doubles skill level and around a 4.5 level for singles.
Today, with 18 years of playing experience and 6 years dedicated to coaching, I am honored to serve as the Head Pickleball Pro at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in North Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona. For the past 15 months, I have been running my academy, PASS Pickleball Academy, out of this beautiful, 21-court facility, serving our 300 dedicated pickleball members. We also proudly provide camps and instruction for all hotel and villa guests staying on the property.
PASS Pickleball Academy was founded from a deep passion for developing players and elevating their game.
My coaching philosophy is simple yet highly effective: find the core similarities across all facets of the game and distill complex technique, strategy, and new concepts into four easily digestible phrases that form our PASS acronym:
Path of your follow-through
Angle of your paddle face
Speed of your follow-through
Shadowing the ball
We empower our students to master court positioning. We instruct them to aggressively get to the net, because that is where points are won, and we strictly advise against engaging in extended battles with opponents at the Kitchen Line while trapped in the transition zone, as that is precisely where points are lost.
Ultimately, at a high level, we believe the game is played only two ways: take control of the point by playing with intention and setting yourself up for the next shot, or stay in the point by playing defensively and working to regain proper court position.
This focused methodology, refined over six years, has transformed thousands of players—taking our clients from merely hitting the ball to executing strategic, instinctual play on the court.
